Panagiota Babali, English language teacher at the elementary school of Ampelakia Salaminas has explained her experience in implementing the Rights Hero game with students in her school. She explains the reaction of the children to the game as well as her plans to create a school theatre play based on the educational scenarios of the game.
A video has been prepared for the presentation of the Rights Hero game to teachers and schools in Italy. The video explains all the process from downloading the game to playing it as well as the way that the Teacher’s Manual can help the teachers to implement it in the classroom.
Alexia Karapatsia, the coordinator of the Rights Hero project from the Network of Children’s Rights is speaking with Kostas Diamantis Balaskas about the Rights Hero project, its objectives, the game that was created and the response of the teachers that have used it in the classroom.
The Network of the Rights of the Child together with the 49th Elementary School of Athens and Action Synergy, organised three distance training seminars for teachers on the use of the electronic game “Rights Hero” and on the implementation of workshops related with the raising awareness of students on issues related to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The seminars were organised on 11, 19 and 24 of October and were addressed to teachers of the last classes of the primary (4th, 5th and 6th grade) andthe first classes of the secondary education with the aim to empower teachers to use the video game as a training material in their schools.
A total of 325 teachers from all over Greece participated. Indicatively, the participants were from Attica, Xanthi, Santorini, Serifos, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Chios, Lesvos, Ioannina, Veroia, Patras, Heraklion, Komotini. In addition, the seminar on 24/10 was implemented in cooperation with the Cultural Affairs Officers of the 1st and 4th Primary Education Directorates of Athens.
In a drive to enhance children’s awareness of their rights, The Rights Hero project, funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program, recently conducted 3 impactful webinars for 211 teachers in Romania. The initiative addresses the challenges exacerbated by the post-pandemic scenario, aiming to bridge gaps in information about children’s rights and EU policies.
The webinars’ main aim was to familiarise the teachers with the Rights Hero educational game and the educational scenarios which are tackling different children’s rights and fostering discussions around these issues.
